Graduate Research Assistant · Sole Software Engineer

University of Nebraska–Lincoln

Own the architecture, development, release, and maintenance of ACREE across iOS, Android, web, backend services, data infrastructure, and connected field systems.

  • Built irrigation scheduling, weather integration, sensor visualization, alerts, journals, soil sampling, GPS maps, VRI configuration, AI-assisted analysis, and push notifications.
  • Operate production data infrastructure supporting 746M+ observations, 400+ sensor installations, and 200+ research and commercial field deployments.
  • Lead user onboarding, demonstrations, collaborator coordination, troubleshooting, releases, analytics, and continuous system improvements.

Software Developer

Pierson Wireless · Omaha, Nebraska

Helped rebuild an internal operations platform used by 150+ employees, bringing a modern component-based framework and stronger data architecture to the team.

  • Migrated legacy HTML, CSS, and JavaScript workflows into a React and Node.js architecture while preserving existing business logic.
  • Developed quote, job assignment, materials, inventory, user management, reporting, authentication, and role-based administration workflows.
  • Migrated and normalized SQL Server data, added relationships and tables, participated in Agile delivery and code reviews, and deployed to Microsoft infrastructure.

Irrigation Engineering Intern

UNL Panhandle Research & Extension Center

Created the original web and IoT foundation that later evolved into the ACREE production platform.

  • Built the Angular web application and managed its Debian Linux server, database, deployments, and field-facing functionality.
  • Designed five LoRa camera systems with 16 MP ArduCAM modules that captured and transmitted field imagery every 15 minutes.
  • Tested the systems in commercial farms and research plots, establishing a reusable design later expanded for additional research platforms.

Agricultural Robotics Research Intern

UNL Panhandle Research & Extension Center

Co-developed a field robot that navigated crop rows and collected imagery for canopy analysis.

  • Integrated a Raspberry Pi, Arduino, forward-facing camera, and ultrasonic sensing onto a racing-robot platform.
  • Developed Python navigation and image-processing workflows as part of a two-person engineering team.
  • Applied image thresholding to estimate canopy cover, contributing to the method later documented in the CanopyCAM publication.

About

I’m most useful where software meets the real world.

I’m a full-stack and mobile engineer with a computer science foundation and graduate research experience in mechanized systems management. My work spans product interfaces, backend services, databases, infrastructure, connected sensors, and custom hardware.

I enjoy taking ownership of difficult, ambiguous systems—understanding the users, designing the architecture, shipping the product, and staying close enough to operations to make it better after launch.

Let’s build something useful

Need an engineer who can own the whole system?

I’m exploring software engineering, full-stack, mobile, and web application opportunities where strong product ownership and cross-system thinking matter.
